Sioux beaded hide horse mask

Late 19th century, with a partially torn old paper tag attached: ”Schondorf / Collection / Sioux / B42*65?”, constructed of a head piece with triangular ear flaps and round eye holes, sewn to a neck piece; each piece fully beaded in red, dark blue, green and yellow on a white ground, the head piece decorated with American flags, crosses and pronged rectangle motifs, and with outlines to the eye holes, the neck piece decorated with three bands of conjoined diamonds and half-diamonds centering crosses, alternating with two bands of crosses, bisected by a central stripe, 46” H x 27” W, est: $12,000/16,000 $27,000 (Photo courtesy John Moran Auctioneers)
