19th century French twin beds setting the stage for 500-lot auction

PALM BEACH, Fla. — Auction Gallery of the Palm Beaches, Inc. is gearing up for its Spring Estates Fine Art and Antiques Auction April 22-23.

The two-session auction will see 500 lots of estate consigned property from the Palm Beach and South Floridan region. The auction will take place at the company’s gallery facility at 1609 South Dixie Highway, Suite 5, West Palm Beach, Florida, and live internet bidding available on Liveauctioneers.

Expected showstoppers of the sale include Chinese and Japanese jade, ivory, horn, porcelains, and coral carvings. Of note is a large pair of Cloisonee Vases decorated with white lotus flowers on branches, featuring four character marks with imperial inscriptions in reserves. Additionally, a Chinese Celadon Jade Ting, is extensively carved with fine piercing and a dragon finial is generating much presale interest, a large white coral carving of five quan-yin figures is doing the same.

Other pieces generating extensive interest prior to the sale, and expected to fetch possible top dollar, include:

• Pair of 19th century ormolu bronze candleholders


• Rene Lalique “Salmonides” vase, circa 1932, 11 1/2″ in height

• Collection of Meissen figures
• Several bronze statutes
• French Empire Style 19th century twin beds, with scrolled headboard
• Large Italian marble sarcophagus, with an inscription celebrating Pope Urbanos’ 12 year jubilee in 1625, which carries a $40,000 to $60,000
