CHICAGO – Antique Trader is joining the Randolph Street Market in a new media sponsorship for the 2010 show season. The strategic alliance joins two important antiques and collecting brands and marks the first event sponsorship for Antique Trader.
This strategic partnership will allow the Randolph Street Market advertising and access to Antique Trader’s readership in unprecedented methods during the crucial summer months to promote its portfolio of diverse events held in and around the greater Chicago area. Randolph Street Market dealers will enjoy a strong, multi-media advertising campaign nationwide.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Antique Trader and Randolph Street Market to interact with each other’s customer base in new and exciting ways,” Antique Trader Publisher Dianne Wheeler said. “Antique Trader can interact with its readers and meet new ones at monthly events and Randolph Street exhibitors can reach new customers through the magazine and online.
Sally Schwartz, Owner/Promoter of the Randolph Street Market, commented: “Everyone’s heard that knowledge is power and by having the Antique Trader as our media sponsor, we are able to offer our attendees and dealers a direct connection to timely, useful information. Many of our attendees are just getting into collecting and/or have inherited high quality collections, and they are looking to us for guidance. Through the partnership with the Antique Trader, we are thrilled to be able to offer the incredible brain trust and educational talent base of the many experts and specialists who research and write for Antique Trader and Krause Publications. Essentially, we’ve upped the ‘wow’ factor exponentially at the Randolph Street Market by having the Antique Trader as our media anchor.”
The partnership kicks off April 17-18 during the Randolph Street Market’s highly anticipated Vintage Fashion Explosion, where nearly 100 vintage fashion dealers fill Chicago’s historic Plumbers Hall, 1340 W. Washington, with top-market clothing, jewelry, handbags, shoes and textiles. The event features Randolph Street Market’s appealing Indie Designer Show where shoppers find contemporary haute creators of wearable adornments including clothing, jewelry and fashion accessories.
Featured at the Vintage Fashion Explosion will be noted author and appraiser Caroline Ashleigh, whose new book, Warman’s Shoes Field Guide, will debut in May from Krause Publications. Ashleigh is the founder of Caroline Ashleigh Associates, LLC (www.appraiseyourart.com; 248-792-2929), a firm that provides appraisal and auction services throughout the United States. She is a former educator at the Detroit Institute of Arts and has served as a consultant to several major auction houses including Sotheby’s and William Doyle Auctioneers in New York. She is an internationally known appraiser and has regularly appeared on Antiques Roadshow since 1996. She is currently working with New York University to develop an international online accredited course for appraisers.
Following the Vintage Fashion Explosion, Antique Trader and the Randolph Street Market will host a blockbuster season opener for the Chicago Antique Market, May 29-30. The two-day event will feature more than 200 dealers of fine antiques and quality collectibles in addition to the Antique Trader Appraisal Fair, where readers and show attendees may have their treasures appraised with the cost of admission (first appraisal free with admission, each additional appraisal $10 each).
Randolph Street Market is a favorite destination for merchandisers, decorators, fashionistas and style setters from around the globe. Attendees experience the most exciting array of vintage and modern decorative objects, home furnishings, art, fashion and jewelry ever assembled in downtown Chicago! Travel & Leisure has praised this European style indoor/outdoor event as one of the top three urban markets in the United States, featuring thousands of antiques and collectibles from furnishings to fashion to lighting, vintage bicycles, vinyl records and more.
Shows are held at the Plumbers Hall location, 1340 W. Washington, the last weekend of every month from February through November. Other Randolph Street Market events include the one-day Big Swap Bonanza, May 2 at Plumbers Hall. Visit www.randolphstreetmarket.com for a complete 2010 schedule or call 312-666-1200.
