This Chinese export hand mirror certainly reflected the buyer’s passion for Asian antiques.
Bringing $5,500, the mirror is composed of metal with enameling and Nephrite jade carved plaques on each side of the handle and the back side of the top.
The circa 19th-century mirror measures 9 1/2 inches by 5 inches and was paired with an unmarked filigree bracelet measuring 2 inches wide and 7-3/4 inches around the inside.
The mirror was sold by Dirk Soulis Auctions, which has a massive collection on tap for its Feb. 19-20 sale. Billed as a “wildly eclectic two-day auction of antiques and collectibles” the sale features folk art, silver and a signature collection of vintage wool bathing suits. Details can be found on Soulis’ website.
