Economy claims another mall

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Gresham Lake Antique Mall is expected to close by the end of October, a quick end for the 16 year-old retail outlet.

The assistant manager told the the shop was closing because of “financial reasons.”

The manager did not elaborate.

The mall was promoted as one of the top tourist destinations in Raleigh. The region’s tourism Web site features the shop as an “elegant little mall” … with over 50 dealers and a wide variety of antiques and collectibles.”

The mall underwent an expansion this spring, adding 14 additional spaces.
