Mastro Auctions’ sale surpasses $2 Million

BURR RIDGE, Ill. – A 1914 Cracker Jack #88 Christy Mathewson baseball card sold for $19,678 in Mastro Auctions’ “Classic Collector” online sale that concluded Oct. 25. The auction featured more than 1,700 lots of sports and Americana collectibles. Prices include a buyer’s premium of 20 percent.

Among sports lots, a complete case of 2005 Chicago White Sox World Champions team-signed balls (72 balls, each with 26 signatures) realized a final price of $15,415. A1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle rookie card sold for $12,680. Beatles.jpgA collection of 1960s-1970s NFL Championship game tickets, including Super Bowl V, reached $12,076.

Americana lots included a circa-1953 Elizabeth Orton Jones’ original artwork from The Velveteen Rabbit, which went for $4,229. A J.D. Salinger 1982 signed letter with “legal” content sold for $3,493.

The Beatles’ Revolver RIAA Gold Record Award went for $3,175.
