CHICAGO – The Midwest Decoy Collectors Association annual convention will be held in Saint Charles, Ill., from April 20-25, 2009.

MDCA members from the U.S., Asia, Europe, Canada and Mexico will be in attendance at what many collectors refer to as the premier world event for antique decoy enthusiasts.

For 44 years, the MDCA’s annual convention has featured educational seminars, auctions, buying and selling and networking opportunities for decoy collectors.

As always, there will be opportunities for collectors to buy, sell and trade. From Monday through Saturday, the ever popular room trading and displays will be open to attendees. There will be more than 386 tables with more than 20,000 items on display.

This year’s seminars and educational opportunities include; “Carvers of Michigan’s Saginaw Bay” with Bill Stout and “Facts Every Collector Should Know” with Vaughn Walter. MDCA members are offering free identification and evaluation services Friday and Saturday, April 24-25.

Following the success of last year’s auction at the MDCA convention, this year more than 650 lots are being offered, with outstanding selections from the collection of Joe French. Of interest to collectors will be a sleeping mallard carved by Charles Perdew.

Additional events and displays include a special member exhibit of 40 Long Island antique decoys. The decoys from member’s collections will be organized in a special presentation. Also on display in the Megacenter will be the “Contemporary Carver International Display.” Both will be available for viewing on Friday from 2-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

The National Duck Call Makers and Collectors of America will hold their annual call competition and convention. Winning examples of the call makers carving competition will be on display.

The MDCA convention will be held at the Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 East Main St., Saint Charles, Ill.
