The annual competition identifies, recognizes and honors the 100 best employers in New York City, from more than 200,000 eligible businesses. Workplace environment and culture are among the deciding factors. In addition to team spirit and cooperation, results-based incentives, and employee benefits.
According to Jill Kaplan, publisher of Crain’s New York Business, this year’s evaluation was the most difficult. As it attracted “a record number of applications representing a wide array of industries throughout the five boroughs.”
Workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics are considered factors. As well as the employee experience, including engagement, culture and job satisfaction. An independent research firm, Best Companies Group, analyzed the data used in selecting this year’s winners.
Validation of Mindset and Mission
“LiveAuctioneers could be regarded as a case study for the importance of investing in talented, highly motivated people. We’re approaching our 15th year and creating accelerating value to our bidder base and auction houses. There can be no question but that our people are the key to our ongoing success,” said Phil Michaelson, VP of Product and Strategy. He continued, “Our workplace has a unique culture that fosters innovation, creative thinking and a team spirit. We all thrive on the challenge of improving our technology, products and services so they make a difference that is positive and meaningful to over 4,000 auction-house partners.”
“It is very gratifying to be recognized as one of the best places to work in New York City,” said Jason Finger, co-founder and long-time CEO of Seamless and Board Member of LiveAuctioneers. “The Crain’s award provides terrific third-party validation of our team’s passion and engagement. Some may think that a robust marketplace develops solely as the result of engaged buyers and sellers. But LiveAuctioneers takes a broader approach. We know that our online community of nearly three million bidders has flourished because of the catalyst provided by our team’s commitment to excellence and our performance-based culture. This award is a great leading indicator of continued success in the market.”
