Thieves cut hole in roof of antique store

DANVILLE, Ohio — In what may be one of the most innovative and destructive methods to rob an antiques store, burglars cut a hole in the roof of Not Just Antiques in order to steal about $20,000 in merchandise Oct. 11.

The antiques mall was housed in the Greenleaf Shopping Center of Highway 34. Among the merchandise stolen was a large amount of silverware and jewelry.

Police suspect three people were involved in the robbery, but they aren’t saying how the criminals were able to cut a hole in the roof in order to get inside the store.

Since the burglars robbed five different vendors at the mall, officials said it will take some time to determine what exactly was stolen. They said break-ins usually increase at this time of year, and police in the area have promised to step up patrols.
