Sterling McCall Antique Showcase becoming popular Round Top antiques destination

ROUND TOP, Texas – All three buildings of the Sterling McCall Antique Showcase were filled as the new venue has become a popular destination for shoppers in the famous Round Top Texas Antiques Market week. With more than 60 exhibitors Kathy Johnston said she “has a real presence in Round Top as one of the premier shows, with quality exhibits and antiques and we have done it in just a year and a half.”

Cranberry bowl bride’s basket brings $16,000; art glass rules Kansas auction

A beautiful bride’s basket boasting a strong cranberry glass bowl with dentil style edge, set atop a fabulous Simpson Hall & Miller figural stand with a Kate Greenway-style cherub holding an umbrella and standing near a dog, sold April 30, 2011 for $16,000. The bride’s basket, measuring 14 1/4 inches by 8 1/2 inches, was the top lot of the more than 500 pieces of art glass and other items that changed hands.

More than 500 lots of top market antique furniture, vintage lighting, fine art, decorative accessories, period furniture, clocks, estate jewelry and watches, including a 12-piece R.J. Horner figural carved dining set is set to light up a May 21 sale in Pittsfield, Mass. The sale is punctuated by several pieces from Tiffany studios. A key find is a bronze inkwell with the fine figure of a crab, its claws reaching forward, pinching the coiled handles of the inkwell pot mounted with an oyster shell.
