Mention the words “gold rush” and antique collectors will know you are talking about one of the best antique markets in the country. The Summer Gold Rush will be held Aug. 16-17 at the Olmsted County Fairgrounds located at the junction of highways 63, 52 and 14.
Gold Rush is an indoor/outdoor antique and flea market event with dealers in 10 buildings as well as dealers covering the entire 52 acres of the fairgrounds. You will see a wide array of antiques overflowing 1,400 spaces representing dealers from all over the United States and Canada. The selection will include bookends, door stops, corkscrews, bottle openers, china, porcelain, pottery, glassware, Victorian glass, clocks, coins, jewelry, stoneware, dolls, toys, holiday, sewing items, prints, furniture, primitives, Americana, linens, textiles, vintage clothing, quilts, militaria, fishing lures, post cards, autographs, paper, books, lamps, Hummel and Goebel figurines, reference bookseller and much, much more.
There is something for everyone at this show, whether you are a collector, a history buff, nostalgia seeker or someone who simply enjoys attending antique shows. Food vendors are plentiful serving up your favorite foods so it is easy to make a day of it — or possibly two days — to appreciate all this event has to offer.
Buildings are open from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday. Friday is open for early buyers at no extra charge. The event is free to the public with parking at $4. Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes.
