Antiques lovers will get a presidential welcome Nov. 14-16 at the Historic Alexandria Antique Show. Celebrating its 60th consecutive year, the show will bring together 38 top ranking dealers from around the nation. Offered for sale at the Holiday Inn Historic District will be more than 5,000 examples of antiques and fine art.
George Washington, as brought back to life by renowned re-enactor Carl Closs, will be on hand for three full days to mark the show’s anniversary.
A soldier, business executive, educator and scholar, Closs devotes himself to helping Americans discover the “real” George Washington.
Filled with fun facts about the father of his country, Closs will greet visitors to the show and provide the curious with insights into Washington’s public and private lives. He will also mark the show’s official opening by a ribbon cutting at the gala preview party on Nov. 13.
Whether decorating a single room or an entire house, serious shoppers will delight in discoveringt some of the finest antiques on the market today at the Historic Alexandria Antiques Show.
Students and first-time treasure hunters will also find the show a friendly way to learn about the fascinating world of antiques.
Dealers will display furniture, paintings, prints, glass, ceramics, textiles, rubs, silver and much more. Every item is backed by a guarantee of authenticity. Hours of the show are from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday, Nov.14; from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15; and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16.
Proceeds from the show benefit the Historic Alexandria Foundation. The foundation awards grants annually to an array of preservation projects and conducts a preservation awards program.
