SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Jenkins Shows had their latest edition of Springfield Antique Show & Flea Market June 26-28 at Clark County  Fairgrounds just outside this southern Ohio city for over 1,000 exhibiting dealers. The date is not the usual pattern as the rest of the year which is usually the third weekend of the month. This show is their only one for both June and July and so the later date was selected.

“The summer has so many good shows we decided to have just this one in the June-July period to give our dealers and customers less date conflicts and more emphasis on this one time,” Jon Jenkins, Show Manager for his family’s business said. “We decided to do it after last summer and it did indeed strengthen the show, with more dealers, more customers and great antiques.”

Their attendance was higher than either June or July of past years. Found at the show were several great early pieces including a ceramic cat in the style of Rockingham or Bennington and an early 19th century bench in walnut and some other woods. An early dower chest was sold on the first day from an Ohio dealer to another from Indiana who expects to be offering it at Manchester, N.H., in August. From a country hardware store came a cabinet for assorted nuts and bolts. An early decorated tile pipe was found with interesting and unusual fish decorations. There were several vintage textiles dealers offering fine early bedcovers, coverlets and quilts. Collections of furniture included early American, English and even some later Nineteenth and Mid-Century styles.

Coming up later this summer will be their regular monthly event Aug. 15-16. The last extravaganza of the summer, Sept. 18-20, is a three day event which will attract more than 2,500 exhibiting dealers and more than 10,000 visitors.

There is free parking with admission at only $5 during the regular show times, $10 for early buying before noon Friday during the extravaganza in September, located at Exit 59 on I-70. More information is listed on the Jenkins Web site, www.jenkinsshows.com or call 937-325-0053 for Jenkins Shows.
