Fine Art, Furniture and Decorative Arts Auction – Dec. 6, 2008
This auction will include a diverse offering of paintings, furniture and decorative arts. In the Fine Art portion of this sale, one of the star lots is a Walter Launt Palmer, American (1854-1932) Winter Snow Scene, oil on canvas, 20 inches by 16 inches (estimate $8,000-$12,000). Another highlight of the sale is a Colin Campbell Cooper, Californian (1856-1937), Sailboats off the Shore, oil on canvas, 16 inches by 20 inches (estimate $7,000-$9,000); Charles Constantine Joseph Hoffbauer, French / American (1875-1957) View of the Nile, oil on canvas, 26 inches by 29 inches (estimate: $5,000-$7,000).
Highlights from the Furniture and Decorative Arts segment of this sale include an Italian Baroque Octagonal Table (estimate: $5,000-$7,000); Regency Style Giltwood Overmantel Mirror (estimate: $1,500-$2,000); Napoleon III Gilt Bronze Marquetry Meuble D’Appui (estimate: $4,000-$6,000); and a Gustav Stickley Oak Nine Drawer Desk (estimate: $8,000-$10,000). The sale comprises of 300 lots and is estimated to bring in over $500,000.

Fine Asian Works of Art – Dec. 8, 2008
The star lot of this sale is an exceptionally rare Chinese imperial famille ritual bowl from the Jiaqing period (1796-1820). This elegant Rose Yellow Ground Nine dragon Ritual Bowl with Cover and Jiaqing six character seal mark and of the period (27 1/4 cm) is estimated to attract bids in the region of $100,000-$120,000. The excitement around this rare object is due to it being the first in its kind up for sale in over 10 years. This piece was originally purchased from the C.T. Loo & Co. in New York in the early 1930s and for over 75 years has remained in pristine condition in the collection of a prominent east coast private collector. Other important highlights to be sold include: Fine Chinese Imperial Kesi Dragon Robe, 19th century, height 48 inches, provenance: From an Exquisite Private Collection in California, (Estimate: $2,500-$3,500); Unusual Chinese Cloisonne? Ruyi Scepter with White Jade Mid Qing Dynasty, Length 14 inches, (Estimate: $6,000-$8,000); A Superb Chinese Large Spinach-Green Jade Censer, Fang Ding, 18th Century, Height 11 inches (Estimate: $15,000-$20,000). This sale includes 350 lots and is estimated to bring in over $600,000.
