Antique Helper to offer Indiana art and great collections May 4

INDIANAPOLIS — Dan Ripley’s Antique Helper announces the Spring Arts and Antiques Auction on Sunday, May 4. With a catalog representing over 500 lots from multiple estates, there will be over 200 Indiana and European paintings, with an impressive selection of works by Hoosier artists at the forefront.

Among the many significant pieces offered in this auction will be two important works by T.C. Steele and Will Vawter.  Consigned locally, both of these paintings are new to the market, after being enjoyed in a private collection for several decades.

Also of special note to Indiana collectors will be a works by Leota Loop, Orrin Draver, Randolph Coats, John Zwara, Floyd Hoper, John Bundy, Wayman Adams, Alberta Shulz  and E.K. Williams. Outstanding examples of works by Hoosier Group painters Otto Stark, J. Ottis Adams and William Forsyth generate special interest.  Among the many Forsyth pieces offered will be a landscape painted in Winona Lake, Indiana, where he taught summer art classes through the Herron School of Art.

Other highlights are a large collection of gutta percha cases and dageurotypes, Lalique and Baccarat collections, Daum and Steuben vases, Tiffany lamps, and sterling. Japanese Meije bronze and fine ivory will be offered along with a selection of Orientalia of large and varied form.
