Estate auction is groovin’ to the ’70s — and Antique Trader is there!

LL Auctions took a mind-trip back to the 1970s when they took on an estate auction consisting of more than 1,500 items in Giddings, Texas. Bidding for the items in the on-line only auction of Margaret Schneider begins Friday, Sept. 12. Bidding ends in 3 sessions from 10 a.m. each day on Sept. 23-25.

The estate held many surprises and unusual and interesting items, including a near mint copy of Antique Trader from 1971. The headline reads “Rare Corner China Cupboard Brings 205.00 at Country Estate Auction.” Oh, the good old days.

Schneider’s husband, an attorney for many years in Giddings, passed away in 1990. In addition to being an interior decorator, Schneider owned an antique/gift/craft shop called The Straw Hat in Giddings from 1969 to about 1972. She passed away earlier this year.

The Schneider estate includes an extensive book collection as well as many wonderful items of art. The inventory from the Straw Hat includes old Fenton Carnival Glass, most with original paper tags, price tags and paper hang tags.

This auction has something for everyone. The 1971 issue of Antique Trader will be offered in the session closing on Sept. 23. Spirited bidding for the trip back to the ’70s is expected to be spirited.
