MOUNT CRAWFORD, Va. — On Oct. 24, Jeffrey S. Evans and Associates will hold an auction featuring needlework tools, accoutrements, and buttons from the exceptional 40-year sewing collection of the late Anne Powell of Celebration, Fla. The event will be held at the Jeffrey S. Evans facility at 2177 Green Valley Lane, Mount Crawford, Va.
The auction bill boasts more than 3,000 pieces, spanning the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, including examples purchased on Ms. Powell’s trips to Europe in the 1970s and 1980s. This extensive collection covers all categories and mediums.
In addition to the Anne Powell collection, the auction will include a massive private collection of antique buttons assembled from the 1930s through the 1950s, most of which are displayed on cards.
With more than 3,000 antique sewing accoutrements scheduled to cross the block, many of which can be classified as utilitarian works of art, anyone with an interest in needlework tools should be able to find something to pique their interest.
An auction preview has been scheduled for Oct. 21-23, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. (EDT) daily, and Oct. 24 beginning at 8 a.m. until the time of the auction (9:30 a.m.).
A 15 percent buyer’s premium will be added to the hammer price of each lot sold.
Further consignments are not being accepted for this auction, but those interested in consigning merchandise for a future auction should contact Karen Reed by phone at 540-434-3939, ext. 143, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
