VAN NUYS, Calif. – Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA) will end 2009 by selling a large and prestigious collection of 20th century design on Dec. 6. The 20th Century Design and Fine Art auction is a follow up to the firm’s June 7 auction.

As Los Angeles’ only Modern Art and Design Auction House solely dedicated to this field, LAMA takes pride in offering high quality items from the 20th Century ranging from furniture, prints, sculpture, and other decorative objects.

Among the highlights in fine art include a Mike Bidlo painting titled “Not Pollock,” Francesco Clemente sculpture, Takashi Murakami multiple, an Al Held painting, a Ruth Asawa sculpture, a Jeff Koons unique BCAM Egg, Alberto Giacometti drawings and Diego Giacometti table lamps from collection of Michael Taylor.

In ceramics, buyers can expect pieces by Pablo Picasso, Gertrud and Otto Natzler, Stan Bitters, David Cressey, Vivika and Otto Heino and Beatrice Wood.

“This auction has an overwhelming amount of estate material,” said Peter Loughrey, director of LAMA. “These are great pieces that have either been in the same collection for decades or in many cases have never traded hands. Buyers should pay attention in this climate because the next time these pieces will hit the market they will probably be when prices are much higher.”

The Modern Design and Fine Art sale will be held at the new auction gallery and showroom at Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA), 16145 Hart Street, Van Nuys, CA 91406.
