Karloff, Stewart, Monroe, Wayne memorabilia headlining March auction

Collection of 16mm films

An archive of more than 400 16mm films, including films from the 1920s to the 1970s. The collecting includes a selection of films representing the western, horror and comedy genres, as well as some short films. It heads into the auction with an estimate of $3,000 to $4,000.

CHICAGO, Ill. — Potter & Potter’s March auction is a 700+ lot sale featuring movie and music memorabilia, including rare posters, autographs, guitars, photographs, and associated items. The auction takes place Saturday, March 11th at 10 a.m. Central time.

The morning session of the March auction features movie memorabilia, including posters, costumes, props, press release and personal photos, ranging from the silent era, to the Golden Age of Hollywood, to modern classics such as Forrest Gump and Star Wars.

Highlights from this session include:

-Evening gowns owned by Marilyn Monroe and Mary Pickford.

*Enjoy a clip of Oscar winner Mary Pickford in the 1929 film “Coquette”….

• A vibrant, original British quad (30” x 40”) movie poster for The Beatles A Hard Day’s Night – one of the rarest Beatles posters known.

-Original release Animal House poster, signed by Steven Furst (“Flounder”)

• A one-sheet poster for Elvis Presley’s Jail House Rock.

-Signed photographs and publicity stills from the Marx Brothers, Boris Karloff, Bettie Page, Jimmy Stewart, among others.

• A lifetime collection of 16mm films, including many early Westerns featuring William S. Hart, John Wanye, and others.

Music Takes Center Stage in March Auction

The March auction continues on to feature music memorabilia. A strong selection of KISS collectables take center stage here, along with contracts, touring costumes, concert posters, and instruments – many of them signed – including:

-An original acrylic painting of Mick Jagger, 70” x 50”, by Denny Dent.

• Costumes, capes, and personally-owned clothing from Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Stevie Nicks, and others.

-Instruments (primarily guitars), autographed by STYX, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, KISS, James Brown, Jefferson Airplane, and Journey, to name but a few.

Items from the March auction will be available for viewing at the Potter & Potter gallery from March 8th through the 10th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Central.
