TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Affiliated Auctions returns July 18-19 with a diverse and richly researched sale of 653 lots comprised of military and firearms and coins, collectibles and antiques.

Authentic items from the Third Reich headline the July 18 session. A Mussert bravery cross, lot 32111, is considered to be a sleeper that may end big. The cross was awarded to a secretive and relatively small sect of the Dutch Nazi Party. "People know very little about the volunteers who fought for the SS but there were divisions in Serbia, India and Brittan," John Wright, lead cataloger for Affiliated Auctions told Antique Trader magazine.

Another standout lot is No. 32159, the complete field uniform of Gen. Friedrich Mieth, who was promoted to General of infantry in 1943 and was eventually awarded the Knights cross. The uniform carries a pre-auction estimate of $10,000-$15,000 because it has not been altered during the last 60 years.

The July 19 antiques and collectibles auction has its share of surprises as well. A painting by Mary E. Taylor titled Scythia, may perhaps be more interesting because of Taylor’s family rather than her talent. Wright determined Taylor’s niece was Hazel Farris, a woman accused of murder whose mummified remains were put on display through the South for about 40 years.

Affiliated Auctions’ July 18-19 military and antiques auction will be held live in Tallahassee and online at LiveAuctioneers.com.
