Iowa Gas Show gearing up to offer double live/online auction

DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Gas Swap Meet and Auctions announces the 27th Annual Collectors Convention. Dealers and buyers from across the continent and around the world will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to attend the largest event featuring original vintage gas pumps and globes, tin and porcelain signs, neons, cans, bottles, maps and other gas collectibles, oil, and auto-related advertising items. There are no cars, auto parts or crafts offered at this show.

The event begins early on Wednesday, July 31 and continues on Thursday, August 1 with a swap meet at the Airport Holiday Inn, 6111 Fleur Drive. Vendors will be selling in the hotel parking lot, ballroom, courtyard and individual guest rooms.

On Wednesday evening the popular buffet dinner and hospitality is followed by room trading. Many items are displayed for sale in guest rooms.

A new feature for 2013 is an auction held Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the hotel ballroom. This sale, featuring 175 quality items, as well as the large 400-item auction of many gas collectibles, held on Friday, Aug. 2 at 9 a.m., will be conducted by Matthews Auctions LLC. Both sales will be broadcast online at www.proxibid.com

Iowa Gas is open to the public and all are invited to attend. There is no admission charge to shop or attend the auctions.
