Toy museum announces special events for balance of 2015

SPENCER, N.C. — The Spencer Doll and Toy Museum, the only doll and toy museum in North Carolina, announces special events taking place throughout 2015.
Leading off the calendar is the Bodacious Birthday Bash, June 7, from 1-4 p.m. Attendees can help the museum celebrate its third birthday with light refreshments, door prizes, special gift shop discounts and more.

22-25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Farnan has more than 50 years of magical experience, making him an ideal mentor for potential prognosticators. Ages 8-12 and adults are welcome. The cost is $110 for non-members, and $90 for members. Bring a lunch. Call 704-762-9359 to register by June 15.

Come be a supermodel for the day at the Passion for Fashion Day Camp, which will be held June 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn about fashion, the “beauty walk” and public speaking while participating in an afternoon fashion show. Have fun as you discover how to make your own lip gloss and hair pins. Bring a white T-shirt for lots of design fun. (Snacks are provided, bring your own lunch.) The 2015 Beautyfest Pageant is being held August 15, at 10 a.m. Four age categories, baby-6 years, boys and girls. Winners will receive a trophy, crown and cash prize. Judging is based on good looks, overall appearance and personality. Register at http://www.spencerdollandtoymuseum.com/Beautyfest-Pageant.html. The pageant fee is only $20, which includes two adult admission tickets.

Two, two-day ‘Roadshow’-style Antiques Appraisal Fairs are planned for 2015. Antiques dealer Michael Hansen will take a look at your items and will offer advice and information regarding a broad spectrum of general merchandise including toys. Scheduled for Aug. 21-22 and Nov. 20-21, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. each day, bring in your family heirlooms and yard sale bargains to learn more about your items. The cost is $5 per item. Limit two items per person.
