Red Carpet auction to benefit community Feb. 21

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. — The Benefit Shop Foundation Inc. will present its next signature Red Carpet auction on Wednesday, February 21. The 10 a.m. Eastern time auction features a diverse range of objects. Items include Asian and French furniture to decorative arts and fine estate jewelry.

In addition, the Red Carpet sales feature premium collections of antique, Mid-Century Modern, brand furnishings, sterling, china, crystal, jewelry and fine art.

With a mission of “to donate, to discover and to do good,” the foundation is a non-profit. All auction proceeds support community organizations. Consignors get a tax deduction, the buyer gets a great deal and local non-profits get much needed funds.

The February auction includes a vintage life-sized gold toned painted Oriental female statue, marked ARP, 65 inches tall; and a bronze Art Deco statute of a nude woman reclining inside a crescent moon, measuring 23 by 20 by 9 inches. Furthermore, a colorful and whimsical folk art reverse painting on glass of a vintage family scene is on offer. The scene shows the family at the bus stop with a cityscape backdrop. It measures 29 by 23 inches.

In addition, Asian arts will figure prominently in the auction. Several choice lacquered examples of antique Chinese furniture will crossing the block late in the sale. The selection includes: a red lacquered chest and mirror, 19th century, hand-painted scene of children playing outside; and a 19th century red lacquer wedding chest, from the Shanxi Province. Finally, a black lacquer calligraphy table, 79 inches long, is set to sell.

Lighting and Decorative Arts Delight

Besides Asian arts, this sale features Continental furniture and decoratives, especially works from France. Furthermore, highlights include an ornately carved mirror with French Gilded age elements of scrolls, swags, C and S curves, acanthus leaves and sinuous lines. The piece measuring 54 by 36 inches. In addition, a Sevres porcelain gilt bronze pictorial vase made into a table lamp, 29 inches tall, is coming before bidders. Finally, a pair of antique ormolu and crystal girandole candelabras, possibly bronze with crystal drops and finials, 27 inches tall, is on offer.
