MULLICA HILL, N.J. — Fall is in the air and the sound of cannons is resonating throughout the village. The Mullica Hill Merchants is hosting their 46th Annual Fall Festival on Oct. 10 from 10 a.m.7 p.m. and Oct. 11 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
During the Civil War Living History Program, visitors may experience Civil War camp life, a weapons display, baking on an open fire and candle dipping, as well as medical display and a Civil War re-enactment. Experiences of the Civil War era will be heightened as visitors listen to music by a Civil War band. Evening activities include strolling through the camp site as tales of the Civil War are conveyed by actors portraying Civil War soldiers.
Writer/historian Charles H. Harrison will be at The Front Porch Antiques to sign his “No Longer Warriors” book, which is based on his great-grandfather’s personal account as a Union Soldier at Gettysburg. The book is the story of wounded soldiers who experience terror and miracles in a house on the battlefield as the fighting rages around them.
For the little ones there will be face painting, pumpkin decorating, and merchants will have special displays and treats in their antiques, collectibles and specialty shops. Crafters, food and live music will add to the festivities. The village is on the State and National Historic Registry with most business being based in historic buildings and open year round. Spend the day or a weekend in Mullica Hill enjoying all the village has to offer.
