Happenstance Prompts Toy Train Interest

Warren Heid and a train

Warren Heid and one the trains from his collection.

His interest dates back to 1958. Working on an architecture project in San Jose introduces him to American Flyer. It didn’t take but a few minutes for Heid to purchase the American Flyer train he saw on display in the window of a store. Thus beginning his collection. He became a member of the Train Collectors Association [traincollectors.org], and served on the Board of Directors and as President for the Nor-Cal division of the association.

Within his collection is 2,500 individual cars and sets (comprised of a locomotive, tender and three cars).
