When do antiques reality TV shows air?
| More News & Articles |
I like the new twice-a-month issues. Now, I have a suggestion. There are an increasing number of TV shows about antiques and collectibles, many of them on networks that don’t get listed in the newspapers or guides. How about printing a list of those programs in every issue or every other issue, giving the network, date and time? You can always use the standard disclaimer about listings “subject to change.” It really would be helpful.
I realize that some of these shows are about auctions, restorations and storage-unit sales, but they still are interesting and, I’m sure, would be of interest to some of your readers.
Thanks for at least giving this some thought.

How do you apply for 2012 ‘Antiques Roadshow’ tickets?
Just a note to let you know how much I enjoy the Antique Trader. It always has some special information in it just for me.
I have a house full of antiques. I lost my dear wife three years ago, and at the age of 91, it is time for me to reduce my load in caring for our collections.
I would like very much to go to one of the “Antiques Roadshows.” I watch every one that I see listed in my TV Guide. Is there someplace that can tell me where and when Roadshows are going to be? If there is, I would really like to know about them, and if you have any info on it I would appreciate hearing from you.

Dear Charlie,
So sorry to hear of your wife’s passing. “Antiques Roadshow” wrapped up its 2011 tour Aug. 13, 2011 in Pittsburgh. The 2012 tour schedule will probably be announced in January, and ticket recipients are generally selected after April.
‘Roadshow’ accepts applications both online and by postcard. Ticket recipients are selected by a random drawing from the pool of all eligible applicants, so every applicant has an equal chance of being selected. If you are picked, you get two tickets. Tickets are always free, and ‘Roadshow’ will mail them to your address. You can learn more at the FAQ section of the “Antiques Roadshow” website.
The 2012 application process hasn’t opened yet, but we guarantee you’ll see instructions here in Antique Trader on how to enter when the time is right.

You missed one recent addition to the line of collectibles shows…Bid America on MAV TV. Carried primarily on Dish Network but the MAV TV folks are aggressively moving toward other cable venues. Bid America takes a slightly different approach to the collectibles hobby, looking at it primarily from the viewpoint of the collector and what drives them to collect historic brands related to the development of the United States.
Thanks for the tip! The show is added above.
