INDIANAPOLIS – The 2010 Czech Collectors Association Convention will be held June 11-13 at the Hilton North.
The CCA Convention is proud to sponsor this year’s “Kaleidoscope of Decorative Arts” — an antique show, sale and auction featuring multiple dealers, educational displays and a quality auction featuring Austrian, Bohemian and Czechoslovakian antiques and collectibles.
The Czech Collectors Association is dedicated to the ABC’s – Austrian, Bohemian, and Czechoslovakian decorative arts. Its mission is to foster the collection and appreciation of the art glass, ceramics and other decorative arts from the years 1850 to 1940. This encompasses a vast range of styles – Victorian, Art Nouveau, and Deco; of makers – Amphora, Dressler, Mrazek and Urbach, Loetz, Kralik and Moser; of forms – jewelry, art, lighting, perfume bottles, pottery and much more.
Jirí Harcuba, a world renowned glass engraver, will attend the convention and present information about the history of Bohemian engraved glass. To accompany the seminar, there will be an exhibit of Bohemian engraved glass. In addition, Harcuba will give a demonstration of his engraving.
June 11 will open with the dealer show and sale followed by morning speakers. The public is invited to attend seminars for both days for a nominal fee. Friday afternoon, CCA will continue with additional seminars and the engraving demonstration at the Indianapolis Art Center. The evening will include a traditional Czech dinner.
June 12 will feature seminars in the morning, and free “mini sessions” presented at various booths. An auction takes place from noon to 3 p.m. The convention will close Saturday evening with a banquet.
