St. Charles Gallery to feature extensive Southern art and Belleek collections in July auction

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Auction St. Charles Gallery, 1330 St. Charles Ave., announces their July 26-27 Summer Estates Auction. This sale includes part one of the extensive Southern art collection of the renown Dr. James Nelson of Gonzales, La. Over 300 works of art will be offered, including works by Knute Heldner, Collette Pope Heldner, Alberta Kinsey, William Woodward, Ellsworth Woodward, Charles Richards, Don Wright, Robert Rucker, Alexander J. Drysdale, Xavier de Calltay and Noel Rockmore to name but a few. His impressive collection of over 300 pieces of American Belleek will be included as well.

Also featured is the estate of Elise Cambon, who was well known as the organist at St. Louis Cathedral on Jackson Square for the past 60 years. The profeeds from her estate will go to benefit numerous local charities.

This auction also includes property from the estate of John A. Marque of New Orleans. To everyone who knew him, he was just a regular guy. However, unbeknownst to even his closest friends, he was harboring an incredible secret. Mr. Marque left a fortune of more than $20 million, along with vast real estate holdings to the Greater New Orleans Foundation. (For a complete story about John A. Other items include fine American, French and English furniture, porcelain, chandeliers, carpets, silver and jewelry.

Preview begins on Wednesday, July 16, and runs daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding Sundays, with a late evening preview party Wednesday, July 23 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Saturday session begins at 10 a.m. and the Sunday sale starts at 11 a.m.
