Not in Kansas anymore: Dorothy’s blue gingham dress may parlay into $600,000

Judy Garland “Wizard of Oz” (MGM, 1939) blue and white pinafore and blouse worn in her role as Dorothy Gale. The costume, which is one of the only complete costumes of original pinafore and blouse known to exist, was consigned and sold at Christie’s in 1981 by Kent Warner, a MGM costume designer who assisted with the landmark 1970 MGM back lot auction. (Estimate $400,000-$600,000.)

Included in Julien’s Auctions’ Nov. 9-10 sale is one of the most iconic screen-worn dress in film history: Judy Garland’s blue gingham dress from “The Wizard of Oz.” Read More +
