PARAMUS, N.J. – Flamingo Eventz is the largest vintage book and ephemera show promoter in the country. And Barnes & Noble is the largest new book seller in the country. Perhaps a little-known fact is that Barnes & Noble also has a number of large used book annexes and presentation spaces at select stores throughout the United States. To get the word out about Barnes & Noble’s used book business, they’ve recruited Flamingo Eventz to produce the first-ever vintage book and ephemera fair at one of the used-book outlets. Flamingo Eventz has announced that the premier “Barnes & Noble Vintage Book & Ephemera Fair” will be held in the Special Presentations area of the Paramus, N.J., store on Aug. 28-29. This is a radically new approach to book fairs in that it seeks to expand and meld both the new and old world of books. Flamingo Eventz is planning on presenting up to 40 vintage book and ephemera exhibitors who will offer only vintage merchandise. Customers will enjoy free admission to the fair within the Presentations Area, which is a large open space specifically designed for this type of event. The Used Book Annex is a separate area available to all. The normal retail space will also be open throughout the Fair. “This was just too interesting an idea not to try,” said Flamingo Eventz President Tina Bruno; “With all that’s happening in the economy these days, it was time to look outside the box and try something new!” If this event proves successful, Flamingo Eventz and Barnes & Noble plan to offer similar fairs at other Barnes & Noble Used Book Annexes throughout the country. Interested parties – both exhibitors and customers – should contact Flamingo Eventz at 603-509-2639, or via e-mail at FlamingoEventz@metrocast.net. More information can also be found on the Web at www.FlamingoEventz.com. A special feature found only at Flamingo shows will be verbal appraisals by well-known television personality and appraiser John Bruno and other book and ephemera experts Saturday from 12-3 p.m. at $5 per item. The Barnes & Noble Vintage Book & Ephemera Fair Show dates: Aug. 28-29, 2009 Show hours: Friday: 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Appraisals: Saturday 12-3 p.m., $5 peritem. Admission: Free, plenty of free parking. Directions: The Paramus Barnes & Noble is located at 765 Rt. 17 South, Paramus, NJ 07652. Visit www.FlamingoEventz.com for downloadable maps and directions.
