GRAY, Maine – Cyr Auction Co.’s Nov. 24 sale is an eclectic mix of vintage electric guitars, a Bambino-signed baseball, fine jewelry, a Tiffany leaded glass shade, plus furniture and fine art.
Set for the weekend after Thanksgiving, the auction offers two electric guitars: a 1965 Fender Stratocaster and a 1966 Fender Telecaster once owned by the late guitarist Cub Koda (1948-2000), who made Smokin’ in the Boys’ Room a 1970’s rock standard. Baseball items include an authenticated Babe Ruth-signed ball that also features autographs of other baseball greats; balls signed by Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle, and other memorabilia.
Two carved and painted decoys by Maine’s Gus Wilson will be up for bid: a preening Merganser and a preening Scooter, along with decoys and drawings by decoy artist George Soule. Victorian furniture and a variety of marine art, including boat models, paintings, and an oil on canvas titled Frigate Essex Leaving Salem Harbor, 1927 by Maine artist John Prentiss Benson, round out the sale.
