New eBay alternative: Talk & Trade Live combining the best of the web for online antiques shopping

At Talk & Trade Live buyers and sellers are doing that for items ranging in price from $8.99 on up to thousands. For a flat monthly fee sellers use an Internet video chat system and a feedback system to sell items to buyers from their booths, like those offered at shows and fleas. A mix between craigslist, eBay and Skype, the site, launched by an antiques dealer and part-time eBay seller, is gaining ground fast.

Discovered in the suburbs, Chinese vase sells for $1.5 million in Buffalo, N.Y., auction

CLARENCE, New York – It’s been in Western New York for more than a half century, came out of a local estate, and was sold May 7, 2011 more than $1.5 million dollars.  This 250-year-old Chinese moon flask was purchased by a dealer from Shanghai, China, who was among some 300 who turned-out for this extremely rare auction item at Antique World in Clarence, NY.

Unknown Ernest Hemingway trove hints at love affair with socialite, auction set for June

Ernest Hemingway’s 1959 trip to Pamplona, Spain, evidently produced more than an essay for Life Magazine. A trove of never-before-seen memorabilia from Hemingway’s nine-month trip, heading to auction in June, hints at a love affair with U.S.-born socialite Beatrice Diaz Davis. Terry’s Auction of Maryville, Tenn., will sell the entire collection June 4, 2011 at its gallery and online via Proxibid.com.
