A great time for family heirlooms

In popular usage, an heirloom is something, perhaps an antique, that has been passed down for generations through family members. The term originated in English law when personal property, by immemorial usage, was regarded part of a family estate.

So why not do something incredibly unique and thoughtful this year and start your own family heirloom? Take a stroll down memory lane at the January Arizona Antique Show and start a new family tradition.

Arizona Antique Shows is hosting its Gift Idea Show this Jan. 24-25, 2009. Some items that have been cherished heirlooms are Victorian bride’s bowls, estate jewelry – Victorian, vintage costume or estate – decorative arts and a fabulous horn table from Benjamin Mann Antiques of Big Bear, Calif.

Bride’s bowls were once customary gifts for a bride and groom. These bowls graced the wedding ceremony, reception and then were savored as a wonderful family heirloom accentuating the beginning of their new family. The extravagant and dramatic bowls also symbolized stature of their family. At this show, you will be able to view several of these incredible and vibrant bowls, some even with moving parts.

The January show also boasts a wide range of estate jewelry, an ideal gift for someone special. From watches to rings to brooches, there will be something for everyone at this show.

The Phoenix Antique Market is nationally known as a buyers’ market, offering wholesale and near wholesale pricing to all. Regional antique shop owners, mall booth owners and serious collectors can also take advantage of the fabulous pricing offered.

Show hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free. For more information call 602-717-7337 or visit www.azantiqueshow.com.
