Largest Art Deco & Modernism sale in the country, Dec. 6-7

The country’s Art Deco & Modernism Show is held twice a year on the first weekends of June and December at The Concourse Exhibition Center, 8th and Brannan Street, San Francisco, Calif.

More than two hundred dealers from across the country selling furniture, accessories, art, pottery, glass, books, jewelry, vintage clothing and collectibles from 1900 to 1980, including Arts & Crafts Mission, Monterey, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Streamline Modern, Vintage Western, Mid-Century Modern and exceptional design to 1980.

Vintage Fashions

A Vintage Fashion Show, “Obsessed With Fashion,” will be presented by Deborah Rush on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at 2 p.m., on the mezzanine level of The Concourse.

Swing Dancing At The Show!

A Swing Dance performance, by Michael and Hep Jen, will be held on the lower mezzanine level of The Concourse on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at 2:30 p.m.

Book Signing – It’s In The Bag

Peter and Deborah Keresztury, producers of the Art Deco and Modernism Sales have been collecting Art Deco bakelite boxes and jewelry for the past 25 years. Their fabulous collection is featured in a new book co-authored by them and Nancy Schiffer of Schiffer Publishing Company.

The book includes hundreds of items that reflect the streamline modern designs of the 1920s and 30s. The Kereszturys will be selling some of the bakelite jewelry and boxes from their massive collection, and signing books in their booth, at the show.

Architectural Tours Anyone?

The Art Deco Society of California will lead two architectural walking tours in the Bay Area on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at 11 a.m., the Downtown District tour focuses on the fabulous Art Deco commercial buildings, including the Pacific Stock Exchange, the 450 Sutter Medical building, The Shell Building and others. (Flat terrain, 1 1/2 hour tour. Meet at 11 a.m. at 450 Sutter St.)

Tour the Marina District on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at 11 a.m. and see San Francisco’s greatest concentration of surviving Deco-era buildings. There are 40 buildings on this tour, including two ADSC Preservation Awards winners. The 1 1/2-hour tour is on flat terrain.
