Western Reserve Academy hosts Labor Day antiques show

HUDSON, Ohio — On Sept. 6, the Western Reserve Academy (WRA) will once again open its campus to featured premier dealers and thousands of shoppers and collectors from across the region for the 29th Annual Western Reserve Academy Antiques Festival.

Along with early shopping and all-day admission, those who purchase these special preview tickets also will be treated to a gourmet breakfast served from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Ellsworth Hall on the WRA campus, at the corner of College Street and Prospect. Long considered one of Ohio’s premier antiques showcases, the WRA Antiques Festival takes place, rain or shine, in the center of Western Reserve Academy’s historic campus at 115 College St., Hudson, OH 44236.

Exhibitors will be offering a wide variety of fine Americana, including period American furniture, Ohio antiques, early toys, garden statuary, tools, folk art, fine art, jewelry, oriental rugs, antique accessories, pewter and other 18th- and 19th-century items.

Each year, the Pioneer Women select a very antique to raffle during the Festival. This year, the group has selected a late 18th century Chippendale mahogany refinished round tilt-top tea table. The top has a carved piecrust edge on a base with a turned, carved pedestal on cabriole legs.

General admission tickets for adults are $8 at the door; those under 18 are admitted free. Preview tickets that allow serious antique hunters a head start on the day (preview shopping is from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.) may be purchased for $28.

The Western Reserve Academy Antiques Festival is sponsored by the Pioneer Women of Reserve, a nonprofit organization founded in 1826.
