Fine 19th century ceramics at Cyr’s July 2 Americana auction

GRAY, Maine – Fine pieces of spatter, mocha and stone ware will be sold at Cyr Auction Company’s July 2 Americana Auction. The selection of spatter ware includes several early pieces in yellow, with an especially rare teapot in yellow spatter surrounding a red flower with green stem and leaves, and a large pitcher in rainbow spatter stripes of yellow, green, red, blue and black. The assortment features cups, saucers, plates, pitchers, sugar bowls, creamers and teapots in blue, red, green, purple, black and yellow in several different styles.

Mocha ware that will be sold on July 2 is equally beautiful and unique. Two of the highlights of mocha selection are pitchers, one with the rare combination of both a Cat’s Eye and an Earthworm band; the other features double bands of Earthworm pattern with a green band of impressed stars. The collection features several mugs, a very large yellow pitcher with a blue Seaweed band, and a large yellow bowl with a blue Seaweed band. The undisputed highlight of the stoneware selection is a large water cooler with four peacocks encircling the piece, featuring pine trees and a split-rail fence design between each bird.
