Marie Adrien Persac work soars to $371,000 in $3.5 million fine art auction

NEW ORLEANS — Fine art filled many of the top earner slots in Neal Auction Company’s Nov. 20-21, 2010, Louisiana Purchase® sale, boosting the final take of the event to $3.5 million.

The sale docket featured 18th and 19th century American, French and English antiques, Southern paintings, historical material and decorative arts. Consignments from several discerning collectors, estates and institutions assured the quality of the offerings. Prices realized include a buyer’s premium of 22 percent of the hammer price on each lot up to and including $200,000 plus 10 percent of the hammer price greater than $200,000. For purchases made by check, cash or wire transfer, the buyer’s premium is discounted 2.5 percent of the 22 percent.
