Heritage comic auction tops $2.8 million

DALLAS – Robert Crumb’s original art for the cover of Mr. Natural #1 sold for $101,575 at Heritage Auction Galleries’ Nov. 15 sale of vintage comic books and original comic art. The auction totaled just over $2.8 million for 1,714 lots.

Charles Schulz original Peanuts baseball-themed Sunday strip, dated 4-10-55, brought $113,525.

Alex Schomburg’s image of Captain America, the Human Torch and the Sub-Mariner, painted as the cover of the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #10 in 1980, brought $38,837. Flash Comics #1 sold for $33,460.
