Huge shaving mug collection at Yoder, Feb. 9

DEFOREST, Wis. – On Feb. 9, starting at 9 a.m. sharp, W. Yoder Auction Service will offer a lifetime occupational shaving mug collection, consisting of more than 162 shaving mugs.

Many of the collection are rare pieces, and most are inscribed with the name of the original owner. Occupational shaving mugs, as the name might suggest, reflect the line of work the original owner was usually in. Mug 2 2-6.jpgMugs like these were normally given as gifts.

This ambulance shaving mug is a good example of occupational shaving mugs, created for a specific user.

The auction will also will also include more than 200 pieces of stoneware and pottery. There is also no reserve on any of the pieces.

The auction will take place at the DeForest Comfort Inn, 5025 County Highway V. Free shuttle service is offered to and from the airport.

Mug 9 2-6.jpgFood will be available on the grounds of the auction.

The original owner of this mug, as he shaved every morning, most likely never considered his shaving mug would become highly collectible and valuable.
