BEVERLY, Mass. – A lively cocktail party kicked off Kaminski Auctions’ Vintage Couture and Accessories Auction June 3. The party included delightful live music provided by Gloucester band Stardust. Gorgeous live models done in 1960s-style makeup circled the crowd, showing off some of the highlighted items up for auction. The bidding took place the next day, Saturday, June 4, at Kaminski’s auction gallery in Beverly, Mass.
Caroline Ervin, Kaminski’s vintage clothing specialist and apprentice auctioneer, put together a unique and diverse collection of over 350 lots spanning from Victorian era pieces to contemporary designer clothing, including something for every taste.

The cornerstone of this auction was the remarkable 1960s Emilio Pucci collection of Lorna Dwyer-Carfano, a Pucci model during the 1960s and one of the top models in the United States at that time. More than 40 genre pieces from the “Prince of Prints” were up for auction. The fine and rare pieces achieved solid prices, with a 1960s Emilio Pucci cotton bathing set including a bikini top and bottom with belted cover-up selling for $430 and a 1960s silk tunic-style half-zip silk dress in excellent condition also fetching $430. A 1960s Emilio Pucci for Formit Rogers large sarong in bold colors brought $250.

Bidders pounced on everything from contemporary designer pieces, such as a stunning pink Chanel jacket with pink and gold logo button that brought $430 to iconic genre pieces such as the 1960s Nina Ricci red wool dress that sold for $370. Costume jewelry did remarkably well, with a unique vintage Vendome necklace with an estimate of only $40-$50 soaring to a final price of $250.

Kaminski Auctions is planning their next vintage clothing auction for Oct. 13, 2011 at their Beverly, Mass., gallery..
