Artwork, bronze, sculptures shine at Stallion Hill


STAMFORD, Conn. — On Dec. 8, the first day of the Stallion Hill Gallery’s three-day Winter Auction, the firm will hold its first European, American, Mid Century Modern Fine Art and Estate Jewelry auction. Asian art and antiques will be sold Dec. 9-10.

The auction begins at 10 a.m. each day of the Dec. 8-10 sale, with online bidding facilitated by and, as well as live bidding from the floor at Stallion Hill Gallery in Stamford, Connecticut.

Highlights in the European and American artwork categories include an original pencil sketch by Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920) of Marie Vassilieff. Also offered are antique bronzes, including a sculpture by Diego Giacometti and Art Deco sculptures by Franz Hagenauer.

Also offered in this richly appointed three-day sale are paintings by Robert Arthur Goodnough, Vittorio Guaccimanni, Arthur Brusenbauch and Roy Lichtenstein, among others; Chelsea clocks; art glass; and fine antique and vintage jewelry.

Asian highlights include a 13th/14th century Yuan carved lacquer dish, a Chinese Quianlung emperor imperial jade lohan boulder; an 18th century bronze Buddha; a finely carved jade censer with dragon motif; and a large collection of imperial jade carvings and paintings, Ming jade and thangkas.
