James D. Julia names Mark Ford CEO; acquires Colt firearm collection from Tasmania

FAIRFIELD, Maine – James D. Julia Auctions has added Mark Ford to the role of CEO to oversee growth of one of the top 10 antique auction houses in North America, based on gross annual sales.

Ford is a graduate of Bentley College in Boston, Mass. After a successful career with major accounting firms he, together with two partners, purchased Day’s Jewelry in Maine. For more than 20 years, they grew this company to a multi-store complex that is today recognized as one of the top jewelry stores in Maine with a  focus on quality, value, and customer service. Ford brings these same qualities and experience to Julia’s that he used to help drive Day’s Jewelry success.

Part of his new position as CEO is to work closely with President Jim Julia to assimilate all aspects of the business and thus help to provide a greater depth of management in the Julia team. Julia’s main offices are located in Fairfield, Maine and they have a satellite office in Woburn, Mass.The Julia company recently announced the acquisition of a major Colt Collection from Tasmania.
