Mt. Washington to shake things up in 2,000-lot shaker auction

MT. CRAWFORD, Va. — Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates is auctioning the salt and pepper and sugar shaker collection of the late Richard (“Dick”) and Mary Ann Krauss of Clyde, Ohio, on July 27, 2013, as part of the firm’s sale of 19th and 20th century glass.

Additionally, the sale will include the Rudolph Evers estate collection of sugar shakers.Over a 30-year period, Dick and Mary Ann Krauss assembled one of the top shaker collections in the world with an emphasis on Victorian and art glass examples.

This auction will comprise of more than 2,000 salt and pepper shakers and in excess of 100 sugar shakers, including rare Mt. Washington and other art glass, Victorian decorated, satin, opalescent, rare sets in frames, novelty, Greentown, ruby and amber stained, other Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG), as well as some silver-plate and ceramic examples. The variety of shapes and sizes, as well as colors and textures, is staggering.

The auction will be held in conjunction with the Antique Glass Salt and Sugar Shaker Club’s convention, to be held in nearby Harrisonburg, Va., at the Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates gallery.

The items in this sale will be available for preview at the Mt. Crawford facility July 24-26, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily and again beginning at 8 a.m. on July 27; the auction begins at 9:30 a.m.
