|“The World of Wade Figurines & Miniatures II” by Ian Warner and Mike Posgay (Schiffer Publishing, 2010). ISBN 9780764336287, 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches, 1867 color photos, 392 pages, www.schifferbooks.com. Hardcover, $49.99.|
An attractive book to just peruse, “The World of Wade Figurines & Miniatures II” is a full-color identification and price guide. It expands on the original “World of Wade Figurines and Miniatures” (Schiffer Publishing, 2002), now including limited edition and one-of-a-kind figurines, identifying figurines made from 1927 to 2010.
The clear images and detailed descriptions of hundreds of new and old figurines make this an ideal resource for novice or experienced Wade figurine collectors. Descriptions include such important details as current values (in both U.S. dollars and British pounds), dimensions, markings, documentation, and, when known, the designer. The values were established by taking an average of submitted prices by advisers and contributors from the United States and the United Kingdom.
It is important to note that this edition does not include Wade figurines of Ireland or Wade Whimsies; those collecting categories each have their own books: “The World of Wade Ireland” and “The World of Wade Whimsies,” respectively.
Collectors of these charming little figurines will find “The World of Wade Figurines & Miniatures II” a pleasure to own and enjoy. At 352 glossy pages bound with a hard cover, it’s a tome that should give years of service and enjoyment.
