Facing economic uncertainties and a growing concern for just where the next generation of collectors will come from, several San Francisco groups use public spaces to inspire antiques collecting.
Beneath the shade of tall Chinese elm trees along Pollasky Street in the heart of Old Town Clovis, Calif., 80 vendors set up shop for autumn’s Antique and Collectibles Fair. The event is organized by BOOT (Business Organization of Old Town) and has run for 17 years.
Carol Watson’s Orange Coast Auctions inaugural auction was held Sept. 3, 2011 at their new showroom in Irvine. Bringing 646 registered bidders and a standing room only crowd, the one-day Live Auction consisted of 650 lots and had a 90 percent sell-thru rate.
