Christie’s says it has discovered a previously unrecorded 17th masterpiece by the Dutch master sculpture Adriaen de Vries (1550-1626): a bronze mythological figure supporting the globe, which is estimated to bring between $8 million and $11 million at a July 7 sale. Dating to 1626, the work may possibly be the last fully autographed work executed by the artist. Discovered last year on a routine Christie’s valuation, the bronze stood unrecognized for at least 300 years atop a fountain in the center of an anonymous European castle courtyard. Read More +

The collection of Sir Daniel Donohue, a single-owner estate sold April 4-5, attracted a crowd of more than 200 people to Bonham’s Los Angeles saleroom, many of whom traveled from abroad to participate. Q I am hoping you can give me some information on these two lamps I got at an estate sale. I have had them for 15 years and am not sure how old they are or who made them.
