In Memoriam: Adieu to Pasternak Antiques’ founder
Recently, the antiques and collectibles community lost a joyful ambassador with the passing of Jerry Pasternak, founder and owner of Pasternak Antiques.
"We're here to make friends not money" ~ Jerry Pasternak
Jerry Pasternak, age 63, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21 in Florida, with his wife and son by his side. He was born July 8, 1954 in Methuen, Mass to John and Paula (Fichera) Pasternak and grew up in North Andover, Mass.
A Life Well Lived
He married Patty Dorin on May 8, 1976 and they had one son, Jeremiah. Jerry began buying and selling cars, antiques and real estate whilst still a teenager. For more than 40 years he successfully ran the business he started, Pasternak Antiques. The business continues on with Jeremiah at the helm; carrying on his father's legacy. In recent years, Jerry and his wife retired to Florida, but always came back to New England in the summer.
Jerry adored the beach. He would listen to the long version of "Freebird" and watch reruns of "Bonanza" endlessly. He was a consummate cruiser and always enjoyed a great meal. Above all, he loved his family.
He was generous and kind and found so much joy in trying to make those around him laugh and smile. He stood 6'7"; a gentle giant with the kindest of eyes and a huge heart, who left a lasting impression on every person he met.
Sharing the Joy of Collecting
Jerry was a lifelong collector of all things antique and unique; from classic cars to antique stained glass and mantiques. He was a staple of the antique community in New England for decades.
In 2011 Pasternak Antiques was the subject of a six-part documentary television series, "Born Dealers," on the Discovery Channel and Planet Green network. He did what he loved with the people he loved, each and every day. He was forever raving about how lucky he was and the great life he lived.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Patty; son, Jeremiah; brothers, John and Ted; brothers-in-law, Frank and Jim Dorin; aunt, Eleanor Byrne; godson, Devin Dorin; dog, Fenway; and countless other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Jerry's life will take place in the spring.
