In 2007, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the hit movie, Star Wars, LEGO introduced what many consider to be the greatest LEGO set of all time: the #10179 Ultimate Collector’s Series Millennium Falcon, a set so spectacular Han Solo himself would be proud.

Introduced in 2007, the #10179 Ultimate Collector's Series Millennium Falcon is considered the greatest LEGO set.

The more than 5,000-piece Millennium Falcon sold for a whopping $499.99, the most expensive set on the market at the time. Today, depending on condition, the set can be worth between $3,400-$5,700 on the secondary market. An extremely rare set sold for $15,000 in Las Vegas; a sale which appears to be an outlier on the secondary market.

In addition to the ship, LEGO's 2007 Millennium Falcon set included a certificate of authenticity, five minifigures, and a 316-page instruction manual.

What makes the LEGO set so valuable? For starters, the ship is expertly modeled after arguably the most famous space ship in movie history, the Millennium Falcon captained by Han Solo and his enormous sidekick, Chewbacca. Although it has little playability value, the sheer awesomeness of the set is staggering.

At 5,197 pieces, LEGO’s 2007 Millennium Falcon was HUGE. LEGO introduced a newer version of the Millennium Falcon (#75192) with 7,541 pieces in 2017. Even so, the 2007 edition is coveted by collectors.

Released in 2017, the #75192 Millennium Falcon features 7,541 pieces.

When assembled, the Millennium Falcon is 8 inches high, 33 inches long and 22 inches wide. The set features more than 22 pounds of plastic, by far the heaviest LEGO set, and includes five minifigures: Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Aside from the cockpit, which was designed for the five minifigures to occupy, the ship doesn't feature any interior compartments. The model does, however, feature movable laser turrets and incredible detail. Overall, it is a dynamic looking set and recreates the movie version of the Millennium Falcon in LEGO bricks in such a way that it’s hard to tell it’s a LEGO set.

As you might imagine, building the 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon is a lengthy and time-consuming process. Instead of a pamphlet, a detailed 316-page instruction manual is included to get the job done. The build itself takes several days, but only if you are skilled.

Every detail of Han Solo's famous smuggling starship was faithfully constructed to scale in the 2007 UCS Millennium Falcon LEGO set.

Put it all together, and in the miniaturized world of LEGO, the Millennium Falcon soars high above all other sets in value and aesthetics.
