Goldin Announces USA 250 Auction, Reveals Original Declaration of Independence Broadside

Original 1776 document anchors the upcoming auction to commemorate the country’s semiquincentennial anniversary.

January 27, 2026 – Goldin, an internationally-renowned auction house known for rare and record-breaking collectible sales, has today announced a USA 250 Auction, set to take place this spring. Highlighting formative moments in American history, the auction will be anchored byan original Declaration of Independence.

From July 1776, this Broadside is one of the first printed copies of the Declaration of Independence, the Continental Congress’s bold proclamation that the United States would be “Free and Independent” from Great Britain. Read aloud at town gatherings and posted in public places, broadsides–single pages printed only on one side–spread the news and fanned the flames of independence. This specific document does not bear a printer’s mark, but is attributed to a publisher in Exeter, New Hampshire, based on contextual details. Approximately 125 total July 1776 broadsides are known to be in existence today; however, only ten copies of this specific edition have survived, making this one of the most historically significant and valuable documents of the American Revolution.
