PITTSBURGH — The Pressing Iron and Trivet Collectors of America (PITCA) will gather in Pittsburgh July 13-14 for the group’s annual convention.

“Whether you have a collection of nine, 90 or 900 irons you too can share in the fellowship when the club members meet at the annual convention to exchange information about their shared hobby, as well as buy, sell and trade irons, trivets and related items,” said Jerry Marcus, PITCA secretary/treasurer.

A highlight of the convention is an auction featuring items from the collection of Mary Balestri. The collection of irons appearing in this auction are on offer specifically for this convention auction. Among the items on offer are sadirons, fluters, goffering irons, and stoves, among others. Plus, a Myers Goat Iron will be in the sale. The Myers iron is a storied American-made iron. The auction is open to the public and Hartzell’s Auction Gallery will facilitate.

The Pressing Iron and Trivet Collectors of America, formerly The Midwest Sad Irons Collectors Club, came about in Owatonna, Minnesota. The club was organized exclusively for the purpose of education, fellowship and the study of pressing irons and related objects. More than 300 families from 42 states within the U.S. and 12 international countries form the PITCA membership. Membership includes receipt of the Pressing News quarterly newsletter.
